Sorry for the late post but with vacations and all I lost track of time. The girls had a sleep over at my place and we went swimming for our meeting. After reading their blogs, seeing they didn't say anything about what the book was about, I told them they needed to make me want to read their July book. So, with that said, July's book will be a book of choice for all the readers. Keep in mind this is a Tween/Teen club so nothing adult.
Please post your July Book of Choice as a comment to this post. If this works better then I think we will continue with a monthly Book of Choice instead of everyone reading the same book.
Happy Reading and Enjoy your summer vacations.

For July I have chosen to read 'Among the hidden by Margaret Haddix'.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.haddixbooks.com/books/hidden.html
It is a story about a young boy who has to stay hidden because it is forbidden to have more than two children. The family is frightened of the government and will not even let him in a room if the windows are not covered. One day he while sneaking a peak through the vents he sees a face in a window of one of the new house where he knows the family has two children and no one was supposed to be home. He takes a chance and investigates only to find another 3rd child or as she calls them 'shadow children'. His life is changing as he helps her in her mission to be reconized. I'm almost done with this book and am really enjoying it.
I finished and was surprised at the ending, kind of, although I should have seen it. I found out this is the first book in a series of seven and it follows the life of Luke Garner and encompasses a world where it is dangerous to be a third born. I look forward to following him on his dangerous journey to free the shadow children.
ReplyDeleteMargaret Haddix makes her books real for the reader and I got caught up in the book. I would recomend this book; read it and be pulled into the world of Luke and the shadow children.

ReplyDeleteThe book I chose is " diary of a wimpy kid: the last straw". It is about a kid named Greg who has a diary of the wimpiest kid in the world and it belongs to…Greg. He is teased by his brother, other bullies and other big kids. This is a comedy, a book of fiction, and a diary. I love this book and also the collection along with it, because I can connect to it in so many ways. If I were a teacher I would recommend this book to anyone.
